The Hotwords feature allows course authors to attach a popup to a section of text in a standard text component. These 'hotwords' will be highlighted in the output, and the associated text displayed in a popup by that hotword, when clicked or tapped by a student.
To create a hotword, the course author selects the text they want to be a hotword, then clicks the Hyperlink icon on the text toolbar (or uses the CNTRL+K shortcut key). This displays the Insert Hyperlink dialog with a new hyperlink type, Hotword. The author can enter rich text to define the popup text for the hotword.
Note that it is not possible to add hotwords to text in hotword popups.
Hotwords in the output are highlighted in a similar way to the existing hyperlink-style (as defined in the skin), and can be accessed by clicking or tapping on them. It is not be required for the learner to visit the hotwords in a piece of text to register the page as complete.
Hotwords are output to XLIFF when a course is exported for localisation.
