When browsing to the learner portal a user may be presented with a blank (all white) page instead of the expected learner portal. This is often reported as an error with the system, but is actually by design, and can normally be resolved by first line support.
This happens in the following scenarios:
- The user has logged into the system with an account that does not exist on the LMS. This can happen if you are using single sign-on and a user who has a valid account and credentials for the identity provider (IdP), but who has not been added to the LMS attempts to log in to the learner portal. To resolve this add the user to the LMS with the appropriate username to match that provided by the IdP.
- This can also happen if a user is deleted from the system after they log in but this is significantly less likely to occur and has never presented a problem in our experience.
- The user has added the learner portal to the compatibility view list in Internet Explorer. The learner portal does not work in compatibility view and the site will not work at all if added to the compatibility view list. To resolve this, remove the site from the compatibility view settings list.
