When a learner portal is deployed for your LMS, it will be located at a standard URL, of the form: https://<customer>.portal-agylia.com. The learner portal will be linked to your admin portal, which will have been deployed to a similar, administrator specific URL, e.g. https://<customer>.admin-agylia.com
On specific request, it is possible to configure your learner portal so that your users access the learner portal using your own domain e.g. <customerdomain>.com. This is sometimes referred to as a vanity URL.
To configure a specific vanity URL, you will need to choose the sub-domain that you wish to use to host your learner portal. This could just be ‘www’ or could be another sub-domain such ‘academy’. With these examples, your learners would then access your learner portal at https://www.<customerdomain>.com, or https://academy.<customerdomain>.com.
In order to provide this functionality, your IT department will need to perform some configuration tasks:
- Provide Agylia with the security (SSL) certificate for the sub-domain. This could be a wildcard certificate, e.g. for *.<customerdomain>.com, or the fully qualified domain e.g. academy.<customerdomain>.com. The SSL certificate must be provided with both the public and private key. We recommend that this is password protected, and, if sent by email, that the password is sent separately (or ideally via an alternative channel). Agylia can provide access to a secure SharePoint site to enable you to provide the certificate without sending it in an non-encrypted email.
- Setup the DNS configuration (a CNAME mapping), from the domain you want to use, to <customer>.portal-agylia.com. e.g. a CNAME from www.<customerdomain>.com with a target of <customer>.portal-agylia.com
When Agylia have received the certificate and details for the required URL, we will configure your learner portal to use the supplied certificate and your chosen domain.
